John Friend

I got an email from John Friend this morning telling me how awesome his summer has been. He included this picture of himself in Scotland on the Solstice. So there he is folks, our fearless leader, dancing a jig in his full Scottish regalia! (Talk about bhoga meeting yoga!)

My sister came down to practice today and she said, "You know Labor Day is coming up- perhaps you should have a Labor Day yoga celebration here in San Marcos." I thought to myself, "I am not sure if everyone is un-sore enough to consider it right now..." but I said, "Yeah, I will put it out there and see if people want to get together."

So- is anyone out there interested in a Labor Day practice, potluck and or river plunge? Let me know if the idea appeals to you and I will go further or not. Hope your day is awesome. Love to all.

I am still fairly sore from the Anniversary celebration but that being said I am so in for the Labor day practice!

Looks like I missed out on the anniversary party (although I have to say, seattle was a fabulous break from austin). I'll have to try to make up for it on Labor Day, I guess.

If nothing else, I'm going to have to work off all that cheesecake I ate on vacation. oy.

I think I'm going camping, but if plans change, I'm there.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Host it, and we will come.

I highly recommend the river afterwards. I think it drew most of the soreness out of my poor muscles last time...of course, Emily is *still* sore, so maybe it only works on blokes.

Does the same sort of format in terms of time work for you guys? 11-2ish practice. 2-3ish eat. 3-4ish float the river.

I was thinking this time that we could actually get tubes and float along rather than just hang out at the edge. It is about an hour float from the put-in to the falls. (Pam, plenty of time to make some progress on your Tecate!)

Also Significant others and children would certainly be welcome to eat and float/play i the river with us.

Let me know- I want to plan it so people can come, obviously!

Okay- let's go with 11-2 for practice, a potluck and float/plunge for those interested. So far I have Anne, Jesse, Jen, Mandy, Ari, Emily, me and Kelly on my list. Yahoo!

Is there a place somewhere near the falls where additional tubes can be rented for floating? It seems like our heroic river journey out of the Heart of Darkness will be like a scene from Titanic if we have 20 people trying to share your 3 tubes.

I also need to inquire about life jackets for kids--my short, noisy roommates may be joining us on the river.

Tubes can be rented at City Park, (which is where we start the float and is very close to us) for something like $5-$7, I think. Also some people rent a tube for a cooler. Anyway, we can all go up there together and so forth.

Ari, we have two small life jackets your children can borrow. (they fit me and can be tightened a bit but if that doesn't work, then perhaps someone else has a spare life vest or two...)

Okay, fun, fun, fun!
